Hello lovelies, 

in August Hias and I attended a Regency picnic organized by Kochkulturmuseum in Eisenstadt, Burgenland. It took place in Schloss Esterhazy and was only about 45min away by car. 

I was never at this Regency picnic or the castle before and we were a bit confused where to go as we were about 5-10 mins late and there was nobody at the entrace of the castle or at the cashier. 

But the cashier let us through when she saw our costumes and told us where to go. We arrived in the gardens soonafter and luckily, we were not the last people to arrive. 

At the reception my partner and I got drinks and then talked to some of the vendors. I got a brooch which reminded me of scotland and outlander, mostly because it was the inspiration of the jeweler too, from Orniello. Then we set off to find a good place to put our blanket. Two musicians came and sat down a bit farther and played but we didn't really hear them that well. We debated if whe should more closer but then decided against it because we like the spot.

After a ginger drink (their longtime sponsor is Mister Ginger) we got our baskets and were able to tuck in some food. In our picnic basket was a curry dish and cutlery. And we were brought sandwiches and mini pies.

It was the perfect occasion to wear my Regency gown again I made back in 2020.

I got the hat from an aquaintance who cosplayed Lizzie from Pride and Prejudice (movie) and I thought it fit perfectly with the style.

We also got a salad dish (which was not my favourite...I just dislike greens and salads). But it's a wonderful example for a vegan dish and a non-vegan dish. Mine had an egg and roast beef with beets on salad.

 

After eating, we had a small tour through the gardens and the garden room of the palace were we also visited the famous music hall "Haydnsaal", named after Joseph Haydn.

It was very sunny but not hot as the wind was going strong. It sometimes blew the sand from the path into our faces, which was great as Hias and I both suffer from dry eyes. Now we had dry and sandy eyes.

As we came back, there was a dance instructor who started to teach a Regency dance but I skipped this one. I have no interest in dancing and dancing doesn't like me either.

I spent the time standing at the dessert booth and shoveling rose mini cakes into my pie hole. They also had a pineapple jelly, which was a modern take but it was really lovely. The lavender jelly on the other hand was not my favourite but okay-ish too.
